New Bern NC wins yet another great award! Great Main Street 2015

Middle Street in New Bern North Carolina wins "2015 Great Main Street"

I cannot imagine this to be a surprise to anyone who had a chance to visit our beautiful town of New Bern. Middle Street, center of our little town, New Bern was the original capital of North Carolina, in the colonial era, and is the oldest city in the state. It is surrounded by two beautiful rivers, the Neuse and Trent, and is popular with water enthusiasts of all kinds. The historic district downtown offers unique shopping opportunities, art galleries and fine restaurants, and the business district is undergoing redevelopment, with fine dining and shopping as well. The estimated population of New Bern in July 2004 was 23,368. Even as it continues to grow, New Bern maintains the friendliness of a welcoming small town. What is a Great Main Street?

Great Main Streets are those streets that you want to spend a little time in. They are streets for people, travelers, shopping, and dining. A Main Street might have wonderful fairs and festivals and other programming throughout the year to draw people in and create a sense of community. These Main Streets are important for local business owners and help to keep the spirit of the town alive!
