After nearly three years of work to replace it, the new $41 million Alfred P. Cunningham Bridge will open to traffic by Friday afternoon. This very much needed improvement has unfortunately been economic burden on many if not all Historic Downtown business and I am hoping they will get some more support form the community in the next few months. Please remember that our Beautiful Downtown is hart of New Bern and help us keep it alive and thriving.
The opening ceremony for the bridge is still set for Monday at 11 a.m., and will include several dignitaries, among them Gov. Bev Perdue and Mayor Lee Bettis. Please come out and show your support!
